Nicholas
Ladommatos was born in Nicosia, Cyprus in 1971. While still a
student at high school he won the first national prize in Technical
Drawing. He studied Graphic Design at the Kent Institute of Art &
Design and continued his studies at Wolverhampton University, UK
(Graphic Design & Advertising).
Upon completion of his studies, he returned to Cyprus and
participated for three consecutive years in charity exhibitions of
the Cyprus Institute of Genetics & Neurology. He also participated
in an art symposium with the theme “Knowing and Painting Cyprus”, in
the summer of 2002 - which took place under the auspices of the
Larnaca Municipality. Painters, sculptors, video artists, animators
from France, Italy, Greece and Cyprus took part in the symposium.
The exhibits were displayed at the Gallery of the Municipality of
Larnaca and later at the Gallery of the Municipality of Athens.
Nicholas has also
designed memorial series of stamps for the Cyprus Government and
more specifically a series of Christmas stamps that circulated in
year 2000 and also a stamp that circulated in May 2004 in the memory
of Giannos Kranidiotis, a well known Greek politician. In June 2005,
after a competition that was conducted in 2004, a new stamp series
entitled “Dogs in a man’s life” designed by Nicholas Ladommatos will
be circulated
In September 2004, he had
his first personal exhibition at the Apocalypse Gallery in Nicosia,
with the theme “Geometric Harmony”, an exhibition that consisted of
23 pieces of work. The exhibition was open to the public from
27/09/2004 until 09/10/2004. In December 2004 he participated in a
group exhibition that was organized by the Cyprus Chamber of Fine
Arts at the Famagusta Gate.
His paintings can be seen
in private collections in Cyprus, Greece ,U.K, at the Larnaca
Municipal Gallery and in most local banks. Along with his painting,
Nicholas also undertakes freelance graphic design projects,
particularly in relation with the design of brochures, books,
catalogues etc. |
